Kathy is a 1976 graduate from the School of Nursing, University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO
She is a Certified Inpatient Obstetrical Nurse since 1988, then NAACOG now NCC, Chicago, IL
Now in 2010 she is Certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring, NCC, Chicago, IL.
Her latest certification, Nov. 2015 is as a Certified Lactation Consultant, Through ILCA
She is a Certified Childbirth Educator, since 1986, International Childbirth Education Association, ICEA, Raleigh, NC
In 2009 she became an ICEA Approved Trainer for Professional Childbirth Educators, International Childbirth Education Association, ICEA, Raleigh, NC
Kathy was a Clinical Maternity Nursing Instructor for 10 years for Community College of Denver.
She was the Lead Maternity Nursing Instructor in 2001 for Emily Griffith Licensed Practical Nurse Program, Denver, CO
Kathy has taught and developed curricula for several programs for expectant families: prepared childbirth, infant care, sibling preparation, cesarean birth, vaginal birth after cesarean, breastfeeding, teen birth classes and parenting for teens (incarcerated teens) classes.
Kathy has worked for 40 years as a maternity nurse. She has worked in several different setting, high risk care, with midwifery practices, worked with doulas, unmedicated and medicated births.
She has been a speaker at ICEA national convention, national webinar and state sharing day. she has taught different workshops and inservices. She has mentored student educators and student nurses in her long career.
Kathy is the proud mother of two adult sons and has been happily married for 42 years. Now she is a grandma of the most beautiful granddaughter in the whole world! (sounds like a grandma) She is active in youth serving organizations, as well as loves to camp, sew, ski and travel. She loves the Rocky Mountains as you can see.
