About the workshop

 Kathy reserves the right to increase the fee to $275.00 - $350.00 for long distance workshops to cover the cost of travel. The price is posted on the upcoming list of workshops. 

How to register for a workshop:

The fee is $250.00 USD payable by check or money order to Kathleen King. You may also use the store, click on Professional Childbirth Educator Certifying workshop to use Pay Pal. Payment is expected 14 days before the class. CANCELLATION POLICY Kathy must be notified in writing 2 weeks prior to the class date for a refund or credit toward the next workshop.

 What to bring: a foam pad or "therm-a-rest" type pad for the floor work, 2 pillows, Wear Layers as the temperature may vary and  water bottle.  If already teaching, the teaching aids or photos of them and sample schedules of your class to share with others
 
Information covered in the workshop: This is the offical ICEA Professional Childbirth Educator Certifying Workshop.
It is 18 hours over 2 days (this can be negotiable). The topics covered are required: Family centered Maternity care, normal changes both physically and emotionally  for couples through pregnancy. The process of labor, second stage of labor options, normal and uncommon variations in labor. This includes cesarean birth, vaginal birth after Cesarean-VBAC, teaching styles and techniques for adult learners, healthy lifestyle changes for pregnant women and women's health issues including postpartum depression. Curriculum development, newborn characteristics, breastfeeding, postpartum physical changes and the process to become an ICEA certified educator. Comfort measures and positions in labor/birth, relaxation and breathing patterns in labor and birth.  A variety of posters, games and teaching tools are available too, Samples of the required texts are present for participants to look at.
